Analysis of serum bilirubin and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein in elderly patients with coronary artery disease

2011
Objective:To evaluate clinical value of the serum bilirubin and serum high-sensitivity C-reactive protein(hs-CRP) in patients with coronary artery disease and stress the importance of maintenance of regular medication. Methods: 150 cases with coronary artery disease(diagnosed by angiography) were collected and 150 cases without coronary artery disease served as controls. The levels of serum bilirubin and Hs-CRP were measured. The patients with coronary artery disease received regular medication for 12 months and the levels of serum bilirubin and Hs-CRP were re-tested.Results: In the treatment group,TBIL and IDBIL levels decreased(P0.05),hs-CRP level significantly elevated compared with those in control group(P0.05).Twelve months later,TBIL and IDBIL levels of the patients with coronary artery disease increased(P0.05),hs-CRP level was decreased significantly compared with themselves(P0.05).Conclusion: The elevated TBIL and IDBIL play a protective role in the mechanism of coronary artery disease.Serum bilirubin and Hs-CRP level in patients with coronary artery disease may serve as therapeutic indicators. It is important for elderly patients to maintain a regular medication.
