Corrosion resistance of metallic materials at various depths in the Pacific Ocean

1985
The authors obtain data on the corrosion resistances of various metals in relation to the depth of immersion. Tests were preformed at depths down to 5000 m. Results show that in the subarctic zone the most dangerous depths for carbon steel and brass are 3000-5000 m, and for copper, AMts-3, and Kh18N10T, down to 100 m. In the equatorial zone, the most dangerous depths for all metals are down to 175 m.
