External resonator YbVO_4 crystal 1315 nm Raman laser

The transmittance spectrum and the spontaneous Raman scatting spectrum of YbVO4 crystal were measured.Using a mode-locked Nd:YAG laser with pulse width of 40 ps as the pump source,the second-Stocks Raman output properties of a YbVO4 crystal in an external resonator were tested.The crystal was grown by Czochralski method,the size of the crystal sample was 4 mm×4 mm×15 mm.The wavelength of the Raman laser was 1 315 nm,the maximum output energy was 0.32 mJ,and the highest conversion efficiency was 3.5%.These data were better than the results of GdVO4 crystal which were measured under the same experimental conditions.It indicated that YbVO4 crystal would have good applications for the stimulated Raman scattering of near-infrared laser.
