A steering system for a motor vehicle and method for operating the steering system

2004
The invention relates to a steering system (1) of a motor vehicle, having a steering handle (2) for providing a steering wheel angle (δ_S) as a measure of a desired steering angle (δ_F) for at least one steerable wheel (12, 13) of the motor vehicle. The steering system (1) further comprises superimposing means (9) for generating an additional angle (δ_M) and for superimposing the steering-wheel angle (δ_S) with the additional angle (δ_M). A pinion angle (δ_G) results from the sum of the steering wheel angle (δ_S) and the additional angle (δ_M). Finally, the steering system (1) comprises a steering gear (4) for converting the pinion angle (δ_G) into a corrected steering angle (δ_F) for the at least one steerable wheel (12, 13) of the motor vehicle. In order further to improve the handling of motor vehicles with such steering systems (1) are equipped, it is proposed that the superposition means (9) the addition angle (δ_M) as a function of a driving situation of the motor vehicle, with the exception of the driving speed (v_x) of motor vehicle generate.
