Model predictive control algorithm of AC voltage stabilizer based on hybrid transformer with a matrix converter
2019
Abstract The predictive control model is more and more frequently used in power electronics systems. It can also be used in systems to improve power quality. This article presents the concepts of a model predictive control hybrid transformer (HT) with matrix converter (MC). The proposed HT consists of a power transformer connected to a power electronic converter which controls the output voltage on the secondary side. The very simple realization and possibility to optimize various predefined criteria are advantages of the proposed control method. The compensation of voltage sags, swells and harmonics in the power grid have been observed in simulation studies. The obtained results indicate a high potential for the proposed method and significantly better performance compared to the classical control methods based on space vector modulation. A valuable contribution of the article is the use of a system with a model predictive method to compensate for stochastic distortions of the grid voltage.
