Nieznany miecz z Grębowa, gm. loco, woj. Tarnobrzeg

1996
Bronze sword from Grebowo is of the Morigen type, classified by J. Fogel as type XXII (1979, 58-62). It has a handle with well shaped pommel, shaft widened in the middle and wide guard with dropping down ends. The blade is straight and has grooves. The closes analogies to it are from Gamow (J. Fogiel 1979, Table VII: 1) and from unknown locality (G. Dmochowska-Orlinska 1991-1992, 56, Fig. 2). The sword from Grebowo is distinctive by lack of transversal ribs on handle shaft, which element is typical for the Morigen type. Besides, it is shorter. On the basis of analogies it is possible to date the artifact from Grebowo to the Bronze Age V (J. Fogel 1979, 61). In Poland it is the most south-eastern find of type XXII sword.
