An Experimental Design of Robust Current-mode Arbiter PUF using Organic Thin Film Transistors

2018
A physically unclonable function (PUF) using organic thin film transistors (oTFT) is proposed. The proposed current-mode arbiter PUF (CMA-PUF) operates in current-mode wherein sums of the transistor currents are compared to generate a response while the conventional arbiter PUF generates its response according to the sums of the delay of the logic gates. Owing to the simple construct of the CMA-PUF, the number of transistors has been reduced, enabling a compact and robust layout using oTFTs. We compare performance metrics and layouts between the proposed and existing arbiter PUFs. The results show that the proposed CMA-PUF utilizing oTFT achieves similar performance while the occupied area of circuit is reduced by approximately 52% than the existing arbiter PUF.
