Treatment of femoral head fractures associated with posterior dislocation of hip with absorbable screws

2008
Objective To study the treatment of femoral head fractures associated with posterior dislocation of hip by absorbable screw. Methods 26 cases of femoral head fractures associated with posterior dislocation of hip were treated in our hospital.Fractures were all fixed with absorbable screws, and type Ⅲ with femoral neck fractures were treated canulated screw and type Ⅳ with acetabular fractures were fixed with acetabular tridimensional memory alloy fixation system. Results All the patients were followed up for 15~48 months.According to D'Aubigue-Postel system, the results were excellent in 10 cases, good in 13,fair in 1 and poor in 2.Complications included avascular necrosis of the femoral head(1 case),heterotopic ossification(1 case). No deep infection or traumatic arthritis was found. Conclusions Early diagnosis, better visualization through Kocher-Langenbeck approach in the operation and ability to internally fix these fractures with absorbable screws can provide satisfactory outcome.
