Dielectric and piezoelectric properties of (K 0.5 Na 0.5 )(Nb 0.97 Sb 0.03 )O 3 ceramics according to the K 2 CuNb 8 O 23 addition

In this study, (K 0.5 N 0.5 ) 0.97 (Nb 0.97 Sb 0.03 )O 3 +0.9 mol% K 5.4 Cu 1.3 Ta 10 O 29 + x mol% K 2 CuNb 8 O 23 (x = 0, 0.2, 0.6, 0.8) ceramics were prepared by a conventional mixed oxide method and their microstructure and electric properties were investigated. Secondary phase such as K 6 Ta 10.8 O 30 was made by the virtue of K 2 CuNb 8 O 23 addition in the (K 0.5 N 0.5 ) 0.97 (Nb 0.97 Sb 0.03 )O 3 system ceramics. However, the sinterability of the ceramics increased with increasing K 2 CuNb 8 O 23 content. At the 0.6mol% K 2 CuNb 8 O 23 added composition ceramics sintered at 1060°C, kp and d 33 showed the optimum values of 0.39 and 145[pC/N, respectively, suitable for piezoelectric actuator application.
