MAGPI (Meatoplasty and Glanuloplasty) A Procedure for Subcoronal Hypospadias

2002
The majority of boys with hypospadias have the meatus situated on the inferior surface of the glans, in the balanopenile furrow or on the distal third of the shaft. Such a meatal location, when not associated with chordee, may cause no functional handicap in regard to voiding or sexual activity. For these reasons, reconstructive surgery has been denied many of these patients in the past. We propose an operative procedure that may be accomplished with minimal complication, a short hospital stay, improved cosmetic appearance, and considerable patient and parental satisfaction. This plastic surgical rearrangement incorporates a meatal advancement and glanuloplasty and is called a “MAGPI” procedure.
