Numerical determination of the duration of the nucleate-boiling phase in the course of steel-plate hardening

A technique for numerical calculation of the duration of the nucleate-boiling phase during hardening of steel ingots is developed. The dependence of the duration of the nucleateboiling phase on the dimensions of ingot is investigated, and it is shown that there exists a limiting plate thickness above which the duration of the nucleate-boiling phase remains virtually constant.
