Modification of physiological properties in Saccharomyces uvarum and Kluyveromyces bulgaricus grown in presence of polyoxyalkylene glycoĺ-oleic acid condensates

1987
Condensates of polyoxyalkylene glycol of diverse molecular weight esterified by oleic acid, used as antifoam agents in fermentors, were tested on Saccharomyces uvarum and Kluyveromyces bulgaricus. These compounds, used at a concentration of 0.1% (V/V) in the culture medium, stimulated the aerobic growth of the yeasts, and adding oleic acid (up to a concentration of 0.005% V/V in the medium) to the antifoam compounds further increased the final biomass.
