Avaliação da adequada indicação de leite artificial em recém-nascidos em uma maternidade de referência de Minas Gerais

This study aimed to determine the prevalence and reasons for the use of supplementation of breastfeeding in infants born. A cross sectional study, quantitative and retrospective study, included a sample of 39 newborns at Hospital of Belo Horizonte, Brazil, who used supplement in milk rooms. Reasons for supplement use were classified as acceptable or not according to WHO. Of 1299 live births, only 57 were in lactary request for use of artificial milk, and these had access to 39 records. The women studied were in the age group 21-35 years, married, had elementary school and performed six or more prenatal consultations.
