Analysis of Wind Data and Wind Energy Potential of the East of Mohammedia, Morocco

In this study, we investigate wind data to assess the wind energy potential of one selected location in East of Mohammedia, Morocco. The wind speeds is statistically studied using the data collected from the meteorological station located in “Ecole Normale Superieure d'Enseignement Technique” (ENSET) Engineering school, over a year period, 2004. Then, they are modeled by Weibull distribution. From the results obtained, we propose a detailed analysis of wind data including daily and monthly wind speed as well as wind rose of seasonal and annual wind direction and the energy density available in the area under study. The accuracy of our results and the validity of our model is verified using WAsP software.
