Combined spiral-wire rectangular-frame patch antenna based on left-handed material effect

2012
The invention relates to a combined spiral-wire rectangular-frame patch antenna based on a left-handed material effect. The combined spiral-wire rectangular-frame patch antenna comprises a dielectric substrate, a metallic grounding plate, a rectangular-frame metal patch antenna, a microstrip feeder line, 6*6 spiral metal wires and four metal strips. The rectangular-frame metal patch antenna is fixed on the forward surface of the dielectric substrate, the dielectric constant of the substrate is 10, the antenna is fed through the microstrip feeder line, the 6*6 spiral metal wires are periodically arranged in the rectangular-frame metal patch antenna, and the four metal strips are inlaid among the spiral metal wires. The metallic grounding plate is adhered to the reverse surface of the dielectric substrate. According to the combined spiral-wire rectangular-frame patch antenna based on the left-handed material effect, nearby a certain frequency, the degree of the localization of electromagnetic energy is obviously increased due to a combined spiral-wire structure, so that the gain of the antenna is obviously increased, the return loss is lower, and the performance of the antenna is better improved. Thus, the combined spiral-wire rectangular-frame patch antenna can be applied to the fields of mobile communications, satellite communications, aerospace and the like.
