Medial Superior and Descending Genicular Vessels

Reconstruction and coverage of defects at the knee joint and in the distal lower extremity pose a considerable challenge that often demands free tissue coverage. Among the network of genicular vessels, the medial superior and descending genicular vessels offer a reliable recipient option. The relevant anatomy, recommended technique for surgical exposure, and applications of the use of these vessels in microsurgical reconstruction will be explored in this chapter.
