Spray-solidification method using an extruder to prepare compositions in multiparticulate crystalline drugs

A method for forming chemically stable multiparticulates containing a drug, comprising: (a) forming in an extruder a molten mixture comprising a labile drug and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, wherein said carrier is selected from the group consisting of waxes , long chain alcohols, fatty acid esters of long chain and mixtures thereof, and wherein said drug in said molten mixture is crystalline at least 70% by weight; (B) delivering said molten mixture to a medium atomizer to form droplets of said molten mixture; and (c) solidifying said droplets to form multiparticulates.
