Carbonation characteristics of cement-based materials under the uniform distribution of pore water

2020
Abstract In order to reasonably evaluate the carbonation characteristics of cement-based materials under the uniform distribution of pore water, the problems in the pretreatment method of carbonation test have been pointed out through comparative experiments in this paper, at the same time, the more reasonable pretreatment has been put forward. According to this proposed pretreatment method, the pore water saturation and carbonation characteristics of the mortar specimens when they reached the uniform pore water distribution with different ambient relative humidity were further researched. The results show that under the state of pore water uniform distribution, the pore water saturation of cement-based materials and the ambient relative humidity are approximately equal in value. Accelerated carbonation test in pore water uniform distribution, the carbonation depth of mortar reaches a maximum when the ambient relative humidity is 50%. In addition, when the ambient relative humidity is 85%, the mortar specimens are not completely carbonated. The results indicate that it is more effectively characterize the influence of the ambient relative humidity on the cement-based materials in natural environment by accelerated carbonation test in pore water uniform distribution.
