Relativity of tumor angiogenesis, cell proliferation, and apoptosis in bladder cancer of mice

2005
Objective: To quantitively study the relationship between angiogenesis as well as cell proliferation and apoptosis in the tissues of rat bladder cancer. Methods:We used BBN to induce rats bladder cancer, and observed the changes and correlation of microvessel density(MVD), the proliferation index(PI), and the apoptosis index(AI) of cells in bladder cancer tissues by using immunohistochemistry. Results:Both the MVD and PI in the tissues of bladder cancer increased with the development of the tumor, and the correlation was positioe. The increasing speed of PI was evidently higher than that of MVD, and the AI increased as a result. Conclusion:The angiogenesis of tumor is a premise and base of tumor cells proliferation. Angiogenesis and cell proliferation affect the apoptosis and necrosis of tumor cells.
