Method for Protecting Plasma-Jet Hard-Facing by Gas Powder Flow

The results of investigation of the rate of gas flow and powder particles flying at plasma-jet hard-facing by a constricted arc in gas powder protective media are presented. A new method of welding bath protection by a gas powder flow is proposed, which makes it possible to reduce the argon consumption by 50 – 60%, as well as to reduce plasmatron mass-dimensional characteristics, while abandoning the use of a shield cup and protective gas as an independent flow.
