Improved high density rotary peening particle support and manufacture thereof

PURPOSE: To eliminate defects from a peening particle support so as to prolong the use life of a flap by forming a high nickel layer having a content of nickel which is higher than that of a base composition of a specific wt.% of carbon and the balance of iron, underneath an exposed surface of the support. CONSTITUTION: A high density rotary peening particle support of such a type having a plurality of peening particles 20 metallurgically fixed to an exposed surface 16, substantially has a base composition of 0.08 to 0.34 wt.% of carbon and the balance of iron. Further, a high nickel layer having a content of nickel which is higher than that of the base composition, is formed underneath the exposed surface 16. This high nickel layer can eliminate defects from the peening particle support so as to prolong the use life of a flap.
