Severity Scoring Systems: Are They Internally Valid, Reliable and Predictive of Oxygen Use in Children With Acute Bronchiolitis?

2013
pa of 0.72 (95% CI: 0.63, 0.83) for Tal and 0.70 (95% CI: 0.63, 0.76) for Modified-Tal. For predicting requirement for oxygen at 12 and 24 hrs; area under receiver operating curve (aROC) was 0.69 (95% CI: 0.13, 1.0) and 0.75 (95% CI: 0.34, 1.0), respectively. Conclusion: The Tal and Modified-Tal scoring systems for bronchiolitis is repeatable and can reliably be used in research and clinical practice. Its utility for prediction of O2 requirement is limited.
