Polymerization modification of fillers and its influence on the properties of filled polyvinyl chloride

Abstract The authors have investigated modification of mineral fillers with polymers by polymerizing monomers on the surface of the solid disperse phase. It is shown that the grafting of the polymers to the filler surface fundamentally influences the physicomechanical properties of the filled PVC compositions. The influence of the size and composition of the polymer coat on the particles of the solid disperse phase on the rheological, physicomechanical and technological properties of filled PVC is demonstrated.
