A stator assembly (1) for an electric machine with horizontal axis, comprises: - a stack (12) of magnetisable sheet metal and comprising windings forming at each axial end of the stator, a knot (2) son electrically conductive wound on contact each other, - a cooling device for flowing a cooling liquid in contact with the winding heads (2), the cooling device comprising a shell (4) covering the axial end of at least one of the coil ends (2 ). The shell (4) is assembled directly on the coil end (2) by a first annular edge (9) of the shell (4) and a second annular edge (19) of the shell, the two edges being coaxial with the bun (2 ), axially spaced from the stack (12) and providing a seal between the shell (4) and the outer surface of the dome (2).
