Screening obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome in subcortical atherosclerotic encephalopathy by polysomnography

2018
Objective To screen the prevalence of obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome in patients with subcortical atherosclerotic encephalopathy. Mehtods Thirty two patients with subcortical atherosclerotic encephalopathy and 32 sex- and age-matched normal adults were included into this study. All the subjects were evaluated by polysomnography. Results Compared with the normal controls, the patients with subcortical atherosclerotic encephalopathy had a higher AHI index, a higher percentage of O2 saturation lower than 90%, and a higher respiratory event related microarousal index (all P 0.05) . Conclusion Patients with subcortical atherosclerotic encephalopathy are highly susceptible to obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome. Key words: Subcortical atherosclerotic encephalopathy; Obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome; AHI
