The Impact of Religion on the Inter-ethnic Relations in the Early Medieval Spain

2011
The famous American anthropologists and sociologists Feliks Gross once indicated that "Ethnic issue has become a major concern in the post-World War II's political order." There is a close relationship between religion and ethnicity.Religion does not only play a significant role in the formation and development of ethnic groups, but also has great impact on the inter-ethnic relations. The early medieval Spain is a place where three monotheistic religions Islam,Christianity and Judaism coexist and a period of great fusion of various ethnic groups including Arabs,Berbers,Visigoth-Roman Christian people and Jewishes.A study on the religion's impact on the inter-ethnic relations in early medieval spain helps us get a better understandiong of the relationship between them and provide useful reference to the development of ethnic groups in our nation today.
