Estimation of household income and percentage poor at the province and district level in Peru

1996
Data from the National Population and Housing Censuses of 1993 and from the National Household Survey (ENAHO) of 1995 are used to generate household income and poverty indicators for provinces and districts by means of a statistical method that integrates both data sources with the aim of providing information that can help to make a more efficient allocation of resources of social policies and programmes....First a statistical relationship between income and a set of individual household and locational characteristics is established with survey data also available in the censuses. Second the census data are used in conjunction with the estimated model to estimate the percentage of households poor at the department and district level. (EXCERPT) (SUMMARY IN ENG)
