Psittacines, Coliiformes, Musophagiformes, Cuculiformes

Abstract The common and some unique disease conditions of the popular and colorful psittacines are reviewed. Several of the infectious disease conditions best described in captive pet and/or zoo birds pose a risk to wild populations given the ability of some species being able to establish feral populations around the world. Psittacines are also a source of some zoonotic infections. In addition Coliiformes, Musophagiformes, and Cuculiformes species are covered and a summary of their diseases are provided in supplemental tables.
