Design of 16×0.8nm silica on silicon arrayed waveguide grating

A reasonable design rule of AWG is given, which not only the loss uniformity but the output channel are taken into account. The refraction difference 0.75%, 16×0.8nm silica on silicon AWG is designed using this method. The response spectra of the designed AWG are simulated using wide angle FD-BPM method, the result shows that insertion loss is -1.5dB, cross talk is -48dB, channel nonuniformity is about 1dB,which satisfy the commercial demand.
