O PROBLEMA DO DIAMANTE DO ALTO PARANAÍBA, ESTADO DE MINAS GERAIS

In this paper, the Authors summarize the problem of diamond origin at Alto Paranaiba province, in Minas Gerais State, and based on mineralogical, geologic and tectonic evidences they point out the possibilities of existence of Neocretaceous kimberlitic intrusions. A short discussion dealing with the aplicability of some prospection methods for its research is presented. A new outlet on the diamond origin at Alto Paranaiba is discussed, in relation with the Abaete Conglomerate (Areado Group, of Eocretaceous age).
