Polikistik Over Sendromunda Renin Anjiotensin Aldosteron Sisteminin Plazma Renin Aktivitesi ile Değerlendirilmesi

2019
Aim: The present study intends to investigate the relationship between polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and renin anjiotensin aldosteron system (RAS). Material and Methods: It is a prospective cross-sectional study conducted at Gynecology Clinic of Faculty of Medicine in Kirikkale University. The study group consists of a total of 126 patients, aged between 18 and 40. 96 were diagnosed with PCOS, and 30 were non-PCOS patients (control group). All the patients were given a fasting blood test in the morning, and the plasma renin activity (PRA) was assessed. Statistical analyses were performed to see the difference between the groups. Conclusion: PRA was 287(10-693) pg/ml and 213 (50-802) pg/ml in PCOS and non-PCOS group, respectively. Statistically significant difference was identified between the groups (p:0.048). In brief, PRA levels increase significantly in PCOS, which indicates an activity in the RAS in PCOS.
