Family is an important psychosocial factor to avoid or favor both the consumption of alcohol and the problematic use of the Internet in adolescents, for which a study was carried out that analyzes the relationship between these three variables in registered students of high school in the state of Veracruz. Method. Study with a quantitative, transversal, descriptive and correlational approach, using a stratified simple random sample that allowed the participation of 252 adolescents, to whom the following tests were applied: Internet Addiction Test, Alcohol AUDIT and APGAR. Results. Women show more problematic use (39.8%) that addictive (5.8%) use of the Internet; alcohol consumption with risk affects to 4.4% of participants while the harmful to 1.2% and 15.4% turned out with low family functionality. There is a relation between Internet use and alcohol consumption r=.181 (p = .0001), and between Internet use and family functionality r = -.281 (p = .0001), what matches with the results in other countries.
