Enfoque actual del trombo embolismo pulmonar: scores de riesgo, diagnostico, profilaxis y tratamiento durante el embarazo y puerperio.

2017
The venous embolism thrombus with its two entities deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE), is an entity that occurs in approximately 1 in 1000 pregnancies. Pregnant women multiply their risk five times compared to non-pregnant women, prolonging this risk until 12 weeks postpartum, due to the state of hypercoagulability characteristic of pregnancy and puerperium. Although progress has been made in its diagnosis and treatment, pulmonary embolism is one of the main causes of maternal mortality and is represented with approximately 35% of death in the absence of treatment. Finding that the majority of deaths related to pulmonary embolism occur within the first 60 minutes of the start of the event, and almost half of the events of severe puerperal pulmonary embolism are caused within the first 24 hours postpartum, diagnosis and early treatment are fundamental to improve the prognosis.
