National Turkey Federation Research Award

Abstract Dr. M. G. McCartney, Department of Poultry Science, Ohio Agricultural Experiment Station, Wooster, received the National Turkey Federation Research Award for 1959 at the banquet during the annual convention held in Minneapolis, Minnesota, January 7, 1960. The presentation was made by Stanley J. Marsden, Chairman of the N.T.F. Research Award Committee. The award consists of an engraved plaque with the citation “For outstanding service to the turkey industry through constructive research,” and five hundred dollars. He received the award for his work on the improvement of the reproductive performance of turkeys through artificial insemination and lighting, as well as research in the fields of breeding and management. He has published some 40 scientific papers, as well as many popular articles. He was born at Wellington, Ontario, Canada; and obtained a B.S.A. degree at the Ontario Agricultural College, Guelph, in 1940. After serving in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World …
