Le Test De Tolerance Au Chlorpropamide Intraveineux

1962
SummaryA single dose of 500 mg of chlorpropamide was injected intravenously in each individual of a group of 62 subjects including I0 normal individuals without a familial history of diabetes. The drug induced a mean fall of 25 to 30 % in fasting blood glucose level in the normal subjects. This drop did not amount a mean value of 20 % in patients with true diabetes, latent diabetes or chronic pancreatitis. Contrastingly, in a case of insulinoma, the drug markedly enhanced the hypo-glycaemic tendencies. It is concluded that the intravenous chlorpropamide test is useful for studying the endocrine function of the pancreas. This test can detect latent diabetes as well as pancreatic insulinoma.
