PANCREATITE HIPERCALCÊMICA EM CRIPTOCOCOSE OPORTUNISTA

2017
The pancreatitis due to hypercalcemia is a common complication in many pathologies. The case described reports an immunosuppressed patient, HIV positive without antiretroviral therapy, that was admitted with opportunistic cryptococcosis. During hospitalization, presented a hypercalcemic pancreatitis, attributed to extrarenal production of 1,25-dihidroxivitamin D, which responded with a correction of serum  calcium levels. The fast recognition of hypercalcemia as a cause of pancreatitis is fundamental for therapeutic choice and to reduce associated morbidity and mortality.
