K* PRODUCTION AND DECAY

1962
The properties of K* were studied by investigating the reaction K/sup -/ + p yields K(bar)/sup 0/ + pi /sup -/ + p at the incident momentu m of 1.22 Bev/c (E/sub cm/ = 1895 Mev). A separated K/sup -/ beam was used to guide approximately 200,000 K- mesons into the 72-in. H/sub 2/ bubble chamber. The events were analyzed by computer. Data and discussion are included on cross sections for the events as expressed by the reaction equation, angular distributions, spin resonance, and decay distributions. An analysis of the one- pion exchange process which is assumed to dominate the listed reaction is also included. (J.R.D.)
