The invention discloses a method for producing a novel electronic control zooming liquid crystal lens. According to the method, firstly, a rotary laminating method is adopted to uniformly coat a layer of photoresist on a glass substrate which is plated with a transparent conducting film, after exposing, developing, etching, rubbing alignment of the substrate, cavity making and liquid crystal filling, a topological type liquid crystal box is obtained. Electrodes at specific addresses on the glass substrate of the liquid crystal box are selected to combine a Fresnel zone plate; voltage is applied, a liquid crystal director is changed under the action of an applied electric field, and thus the refractive index of the liquid crystal box is changed to be distributed as the Fresnel zone plate, and a lens effect is shown after diffraction; and the selected electrodes are changed by an electrode address control circuit according to the address requirement so as to combine a new Fresnel zone plate with a different focal length, and the voltage is applied so the purpose of subdivision focal length quasi-continuous zooming is reached. The method also has the advantages of no moving part, low power consumption, short response time, high transmittance, accurate zooming, easiness in miniaturization and the like, and has a wide application prospect in zooming optical imaging systems, video detecting camera systems, photo memories, digital video disk (DVD) machine optical heads, optical communication and the like.
