A recipe for super-high resolution

1999
It is shown that the method of optimizing diffraction and spherical aberration which is in common use may not be the best one for obtaining high resolution. By increasing the aperture size one can make use of the non-uniform intensity distribution in the aberration disc to obtain super-high resolution. albeit at the expense of low frequency information.
