Gaziantep ve Kilis illeri kırmızı mercimek tarlalarındaki canavar otlarının [ Orobanche crenata Forsk. ve Phelipanche aegyptiaca (Pers.)] yaygınlığı, yoğunluğu ve üreticilerin yabancı ot sorunlarına yaklaşımları

Weeds are the first place between the plant protection problems in red lentil cultivation. Crenate broomrape ( Orobanche crenata Forsk.) and eagyptian broomrape [Phelipancha egyptiaca (Pers.) Pomel.], are parasite weeds appears widespread and dense in many red lentil grown areas in Turkey and the species can result serious yield losses. Gaziantep and Kilis provinces are of the important provinces in Southeastern Anatolia for red lentil cultivation of Turkey. This survey study was conducted total 2465 hectare lentil fields in these provinces aim to determine prevalence and intensity of broomrape in 2007. As results of the survey; the highest frequency of P. aegyptiaca and O. crenata were detected in Sahinbey district (80 %) in Gaziantep and Elbeyli district (71% and 33%) in Kilis. Considering the frequency of broomrapes in surveying provinces without distinction of species; it was determined that lentil fields were infested with broomrapes 74.36% in Gaziantep and 53.85% in Kilis provinces. Also, a poll study, consists of the total 70 questions, was done with 51 lentil growers to determine the problems of lentil cultivation, their strategies for solving the problems, their knowledge about broomrapes and their training need in this subject. With the results of the poll studies, important information was taken about weed problems especially broomrapes and approach to problems of lentil growers in Gaziantep and Kilis provinces.
