Dielectric Relaxation in Binary Polar Liquids Containing Alcohols and Molecules With –OH Group
2017
This chapter contains dielectric relaxation characterization of aqueous solutions of some monohydric (methanol, ethanol, propanol, tertiary butyl alcohol [TBA]) and polyhydric (ethylene glycol [EG]) alcohols containing hydroxyl (–OH) group using time domain reflectometry technique. The dielectric relaxation parameters viz. static permittivity, relaxation time, Kirkwood correlation factor, excess permittivity, excess relaxation properties, thermodynamic properties, Bj coefficients, and Bruggeman factor are reported in this chapter for water–methanol, water–ethanol, water–propanol, water–EG, water–TBA, and ethanol–EG binary systems. This chapter provides vital information about molecular interaction between polar liquids containing alcohol and molecules with –OH group through dielectric relaxation parameters at microwave frequency range.
