Stochastic Analysis and Simulation for Seawall Engineering on Qiantang Estuary

Qiantang River is a famous macro-tidal estuary, and the beach is changing greatly and rapidly by the action of flood and tide. The problem about erosion of flat in front of seawall has still not been solved in theoretically and practically. Based on the theory of reliability, the flat level in front of seawall is firstly considered as a random variable in this paper, and the result that the flat level is the most major control variable on overall stability is drawn by stochastic analysis. According to the flat protection way of rocks riprap by boat, based on the stochastic characteristics of pulsation of flow, diameter and distribution of rock in boat, and the rock body under water are simulated by Monte Carlo method. The results have been compared with the experimental data in flume. The study shows the solution presented in the view of stochastic analysis is effective for the erosion of flat of seawall.
