Angular anisotropy of cascade photons in processes of dielectronic ion recombination
1994
Using the formalism of the spin density matrix and the kinetic Pauli equation, a method is developed for calculating the angular-correlation function and the angular distribution of photons emitted in the process of dielectronic recombination at any stage of a cascade of radiative and Auger transitions. Results of specific calculations give examples of a substantial anisotropy of the angular distribution of photons, up to those that are emitted at the latest stages of a cascade. Calculations performed show that the effect of alignment transfer in a cascade may have a strong effect on the shape of the angular correlation of cascade photons. 21 refs., 2 figs.
