Continuous Packet Connectivity and High Speed Common Channels

2014
This chapter presents the solutions for improving HSPA efficiency for carrying bursty packet data traffic. Continuous Packet Connectivity (CPC) brings Discontinuous Transmission (DTX) and Discontinuous Reception (DRX) into Cell_DCH state. High Speed RACH and FACH enhance common channel capabilities. These features minimize the uplink interference levels, minimize network signalling, minimize terminal power consumption and improve end user latency.
