Non-opioid analgesic drug flupirtine: Spectral analysis, DFT computations, in vitro bioactivity and molecular docking study

2017
Abstract Spectral features of non-opioid analgesic drug flupirtine have been explored by the Fourier transform infrared, Raman and Nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopic techniques combined with density functional theory computations. The bioactive conformer of flupirtine is stabilized by an intramolecular C H⋯N hydrogen bonding resulting by the steric strain of hydrogen atoms. Natural bond orbital and natural population analysis support this result. The charge redistribution also has been analyzed. Antimicrobial activities of flupirtine have been screened by agar well disc diffusion and molecular docking methods, which exposes the importance of triaminopyridine in flupirtine.
