A high-temperature investigation of the thermophysical properties of porous tungsten

1974
1. A study was made of the thermophysical properties (λ,ρ, and e) of plasma-deposited tungsten over the temperature range 1000–2400°C. 2. It was found that the properties of porous plasma-sprayed tungsten are unstable at temperatures above 1500°C, which is attributable to partial sintering of the material during its spray deposition. Two distinct temperature ranges were detected: 1500–2100°C, characterized by “slow” sintering, and 2100–2500°C, characterized by intense sintering of plasma-deposited tungsten.
