Public-Private Joint Research toward the Realization of Advanced Road Services

In Japan, endeavours to realize next-generation SmartWay (Intelligent Road) incorporating various services utilizing advanced ITS technology are described, and the development of a common foundation for realizing various ITS services utilizing 5.8GHz-DSRC (Directed Short Range Communication) used in fast-growing ETC (Electric Toll Collection System) is promoted. The results of public-private joint research toward the realization of next-generation road services and of the Smartway Demo 2006 are outlined. For the covering abstract see ITRD E134653.
