Low-complexity ML signal detection algorithm for MIMO system

To reduce the complexity of signal detection in spatial multiplexed(SM)multiple-input-multiple-output(MIMO)system,focusing on the widely used 2×2system,a low-complexity maximum-likelihood(ML)detection algorithm called the bidirectionally detectable maximum-likelihood detection algorithm is proposed.A collection of bidirectionally detectable candidate vectors is built to limit the searching space of the ML vector and reduce the complexity of signal detection.Simulation result shows that this algorithm can gain a similar BER to the traditional ML detection algorithm but with a complexity of the liner detection algorithm,which makes it qualified to be adopted in the mobile devices in reality.
