3-Dimensional Modeling of Ridge-Fringe Field LCDs

One technique to achieve a multi-domain structure in Vertically-Aligned Liquid Crystal Displays is the Ridge-Fringe Field (RFF) method. In this paper, we show calculated 3-dimensional director configurations for RFF type LCDs using the vector approach. The on-axis transmission and viewing angle are compared for four different pixel structures.
