Anxiety and depression have dramatic impact on human and animal behaviours. We take an interdisciplinary approach and review the existing experimental models of anxiety and depression. The present lecture provides a comprehensive overview of the existing neurobehavioural markers and models of anxiety and depression. Knowledge of neurobehavioural aspects and theories behind animal experimental disorders described in the present paper will assist health professionals to better understand the biological nature and causes of anxiety and depression.
